“Jim’s coaching has been invaluable.  He has helped me clarify my vision, gain confidence in my abilities, and have the courage to take risks that lead to real change.  Jim is an encouraging listener and helps me get to the heart of the issue.”

Rev. Todd Weir

“I know I’ve expressed my appreciation, Jim, for you becoming my coach—but let me tell you right now that getting you onboard as a coach was *simply the best thing* I’ve done to ensure success in my post!”

Jim Beidler, Interim Executive Director, Genealogical Society of PA

“Jim, I truly had no idea what to expect when I partnered with you, but I am thrilled to have been on the receiving end of your coaching. Your experience, wisdom, and gentleness kept me focused and on track. Thanks to your skillfulness, my ministry is climbing to a higher dimension.   I look forward to working with you again.”

Rev. Philomena Hare

“I entered coaching with Jim two years into a tough revitalization ministry. I was anxious and burning out fast. Jim guided me back to sustainability, helping me rediscover my own resources and adding some effective strategies.”

Rev. J. Gary Brinn

Group Coaching

Group coaching is most effective with a group of people already working together, such as a leadership team, a committee, or task force of some kind, and they want to address a particular issue – to solve a problem. Examples include challenges with congregational governance, issues with the church building, ineffective stewardship, problems with the group’s own process, and the like.

Group coaching may be for your leadership team if:

  • They want to solve an enduring issue
  • They want to raise its effectiveness

Testimonials

“As our coach, Jim kept our church renewal team and me focused, which had been a challenge for us in the past. He gave us the courage to move forward when we felt stuck and invited us to go below the surface and listened to our congregation and community members more deeply. We have implemented several new ministries and community partnerships that are flourishing. I highly recommend Jim for coaching for congregations and pastors who have interest in renewal for their church.”

Rev. Barbara Schenk

Jim’s “why” as a coach for pastors

“To empower leaders to lead with authenticity and boldness for the thriving of their ministries.”

What is Non-Directive Coaching?

Non-directive coaching is different from traditional notions of coaching which, like consulting and mentoring, cast the coach as the expert who brings the answers. Employing a non-directive coaching approach, you learn to listen powerfully and not give advice. What if your church members had a pastor skilled at non-directive coaching who, through deep listening and powerful questioning, helped them to discover they have the “answer” already within them? How empowering might it be for them to realize they do not need fixing or directing?
